Death in Venice
05:23

|
||
how did i get so old
when did i lose my way
i was busy wandering
when i was young
a sign on the door that said
there’s no hope if you enter here
with no hope left for heaven i
had nothing left to fear.
after tempting the rough hand of fate
and strutting the whore of babylon
what more for a little despair then
the devil take care of the details
when did i get so old
where has the time all gone
i have seen some better days
when i was young
a light at the end of the bar
and a face at the end of the night
the still small voice of experience
had nothing left to say
all this falling all over my face
and tripping all over my tongue
i come in with this wagon of baggage
and stick out like a suffering thumb
how did i get so cold
that you had to be so warm
so warm and innocent
so new and strong
and jesus you are so beautiful
oh my god you are to die for
and I would die for all your sin
if only I was young
but I have seen some better days
when I was young

Many Years From Now
04:00
|
|
||
can you hear me now
hear me when I say
there will come a day
many years from now
things will all have changed
i find it so hard
to believe in anything
there are day when i
pretend it isn’t real
it isn’t happening
hear me now it’s comin’ round
heal me now i’m lost and found
heed me now what’s goin’ down
can you see me now
warning you away
there is danger here
tomorrow is today
it’s everything you fear
time is drawing near
it's coming to an end
is this the last day
turn and face myself
starting to begin
hear me now it’s comin’ round
heal me now i’m lost and found
heed me now what’s goin’ down
change will seem so small
won't even know it's here
in no time at all
change and change again
and everything will fall
are we standing now
i can't even tell
breathing in and out
i am still alive
it's happening again
hear me now it’s comin’ round
heal me now i’m lost and found
heed me now what’s goin’ down

Don't Make Me Laugh
04:14
|
|||
don't make me laugh
it's not funny
i'm not happy
for cryin' out loud
don't make me laugh
it's not funny
here's how it happens
when you make me mad
or if i'm feelin' sad
a bad temper
you prod me in the side
and there's nowhere i can hide
a smile comes to my face
but it's wrong and out of place
sometimes my laughter feels like pain
sometimes my laughter feels like pain
ha ha
don't make me laugh
it's not funny
i'm not happy
for cryin' out loud
don't make me laugh
it's not funny
well i'm angry again
over what you said
i wish you were dead
i'm seein' red
and then you make that silly face
when i try to state my case
i'm choking on my grin
and the way that you win
somehow this joy makes me so sad
somehow this joy makes me so sad
ha ha ha
don't make me laugh
it's not funny
i'm not happy
for cryin' out loud
don't make me laugh
it's not funny
now there's nothing to gain
by causing me pain
or putting a strain on my patience
provoke me to rage
make me angry outraged
wild eyed and comical
i would be laughable
someday i'll leave you with this smile
someday i'll leave you with this smile
ha ha ha ha ha

Ghost
04:49

in my dream you came to see me
now it hurts me to remember
in my arms the way you never
are you leaving me forever
in my dream you seemed to want me
i didn't mean to raise 'your spirit
even in my sleep you haunt me
with a feeling I'd forgotten
did you say you value knowing
more than even life or loving
is it leave that you are taking
toward the light that you are moving
ghost
go away ghost
harder hearts than mine have broken
charming words been better spoken
a greater love than ours would falter
hoping for a better answer
now you've gone and left me wanting
out of reach of my desire
grasping at your apparition
come to settle some old bargain
did you find some understanding
letting go of life and living
shadow of yourself revealing
to the night you are embracing
ghost
go away ghost
in my dream you had to leave me
so prepared for your departure
made it all the more uncanny
when you tale came the telling
the page of pentacles reversed
dark herself the very mirror
she bore the most unhappy tidings
fate had set your soul to wander
now its me you are condemning
someone has to go on living
i the fate i was deserving
once your memory i'm serving
ghost
go away ghost
did we learn more this time than the last
if not then we're doomed to repeat the past
ghost
go away ghost

Crydaddy Seattle, Washington
Crydaddy is singer Stephen Ahlbom and multi-instrumentalist Keith Galpin.
Longtime musical
cohorts, their forays trace back to the dawn of the Northwest punk/wave scene, debuting in 1979 in Seattle's seminal art band, the Debbies and later in ConCordia disCors and Unison.
Keith's jagged beat guitar, funky bass grooves and interweaving keyboards create the setting for Stephen's melodic ravings.
